Working with Dueck Builders was beyond any expectation we could have had. Our project was the addition of a 12-foot extension to the entire back wall of a 1950s constructed home that resulted in a complete refitting and modernization of the interior. We couldn’t be happier with the result. Our first contact was with co-owner Josh just before Christmas of 2022 and our process got underway immediately.

The most exciting part of that first phase was Josh’s conversion of our graph paper design drawings into his sophisticated CAD system – in no time flat we had 2- and 3-dimensional official designs plus a huge bonus – the opportunity to tour our design in virtual reality! The virtual tour helped us pinpoint a few design problems to address. What fun, though, to walk through our new house that had only existed in our dreams up to that point. When spring 2023 finally allowed excavation to begin, it was a whirlwind of on-site consultations, product decisions and construction, until a short 6 months later, Dueck Builders’ job was done (in fact, under budget) and we moved in.

We cannot praise the Dueck Builder team enough. The management skill and integrity of owners, Cal and Josh, to have brought together an incomparable team – project manager, Mike, who responded immediately to texts, was on site virtually daily and on top of all construction ‘hiccups’; office administrator, Scout, who among much else cheerfully scoured the city to find unique fixtures (and even lent a hand to hoist beams when needed); and Dueck Builders’ highly skilled independent contractors who listened to us and made the small changes we wanted. Special thanks to wizard carpenter, Peter, electrician, Kevin, and heating/ventilation expert, Keith, plus the others we didn’t get to know personally but whose high quality work is everywhere in our new home.

Our dream home is an unconventional, energy efficient design, the building of which required expertise across a number of areas and a willingness to think outside the box. From our first exploratory meeting with Cal we could sense that he would be a great fit based on his breadth of knowledge and experience. Cal was also very willing to bring in outside expertise for specific issues with which he was not overly familiar, which was crucial for the success of the build. Our initial positive impression was validated over the course of about a year, during which Dueck Builders helped us go from incomplete designs to our finished home. Very few issues arose during the build thanks to meticulous planning by Cal and his team. Any issues that did arise (which always occur with new projects) were dealt with to our complete satisfaction in a timely manner. All of the staff were very approachable with regards to questions or concerns, and were very knowledgeable in their craft. Each member of the Dueck Builders team proved to be a skilled craftsman with a keen work ethic, who takes pride in a job well done. We are very satisfied with Dueck Builders and would highly recommend them. In fact we’ve already recommended them to our parents! Dueck Builders has built us a wonderful tailor-made family home we never intend to leave!
