Dueck Builders began as Dueck Homes, founded by Cal Dueck in 2006 in his home neighbourhood of Fort Garry. From the very beginning, Cal took a hands-on approach — personally managing every stage of construction, from framing and concrete to finishing details.
His dedication to quality, craftsmanship, and fairness quickly earned a reputation that set the company apart.
Today, Dueck Builders continues to operate from the same Fort Garry roots, but with a refined focus on custom design-build projects. While the company has grown, our philosophy remains the same: to build every home with integrity, precision, and care — just as Cal did from day one.

Sustainable Builds
Sustainability is built into everything we do. All of our new homes are registered, tested, and rated through Efficiency Manitoba, with results showing they’re, on average, 50% more energy efficient than comparable new homes.
To promote healthy indoor air quality, we carefully select materials with low volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
We’re also proud to reduce our environmental footprint through the use of EcoPact carbon-reduced concrete and cold-climate air-source heat pumps in our homes.
From ICF construction to double-wall custom builds, Dueck Builders continues to push the envelope for responsible building — often meeting or exceeding Passive House air-exchange standards
Cal Dueck
Cal grew up on a farm in the Arborg area. As a farmer he learned to build, maintain, and repair anything and everything. These skills kept him employed while pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Classics and Philosophy, a Master’s Degree in Philosophy, and a Doctor of Philosophy. As a Ph.D. candidate, he taught classes in the University of Manitoba University 1 program. He is now applying his research skills to the science of sustainable eco-friendly building. Cal has been involved in many community organizations and school committees. He has been active in efforts to preserve wild urban green space. Cal’s wife is a teacher, and their two sons are currently inUniversity. Cal enjoys reading, traveling, and meeting people.
Josh Friesen
Josh is a husband to one and a father to two boys and one girl. He enjoys music of many kinds, plays a bit of guitar and piano. He’s a big-time Jets fan and loves to be around people. Josh achieved his Red Seal in Carpentry in 2015, and won the Level 4 Manitoba Skills Competition at Red River College. Since then he has taken several project management courses and SoftPlan intensive training sessions.
Mike
Mike has been building quality homes across Western Canada for many years, bringing a wealth of experience, craftsmanship, and pride to every project he takes on. His deep understanding of the building process—combined with a passion for creating spaces families love—makes him a trusted member of the Dueck Builders team, where he’s been making an impact since 2022.
Mike’s attention to detail and hands-on approach ensure that each home he helps bring to life is built with care, integrity, and precision. Whether it’s coordinating trades, solving challenges on site, or ensuring clients’ visions are realized, Mike’s dedication to his craft shines through in everything he does.
Outside of work, Mike’s world revolves around family and the great outdoors. His daughter, Mikyla, is currently in University One, working toward her Bachelor of Nursing—a path that fills him with immense pride.
When he’s not on site, you’ll most likely find Mike out on the water, fishing from his boat alongside his lovely partner, Amber. For him, there’s nothing quite like a calm day on the lake, good company, and a fishing line in hand to recharge and unwind.
Mike’s balance of professionalism, warmth, and genuine passion for what he does makes him a valued member of the team—and a name synonymous with quality craftsmanship.
Heather
Born and raised on the beautiful prairies, Heather has proudly called Winnipeg home for over 25 years. Surrounded by handy men her whole life, it’s no surprise that her passion for construction came naturally. With over 15 years of experience at a major home builder in Winnipeg, Heather has developed a deep understanding of the home building industry—from the ground up.
Never one to stop learning, she expanded her professional skill set by earning both a Certificate in Management and a Certificate in Project Management from the University of Winnipeg. Her education, combined with years of hands-on industry experience, gives her a unique blend of technical know-how and organizational expertise.
Heather is a natural-born coordinator—something that shines through not only in her career but also in her busy family life as the proud mom of four fabulous kids. Whether she’s managing timelines, teams, or household schedules, Heather brings structure, creativity, and heart to everything she does.
When she’s not coordinating projects or cheering on her kids, Heather and her husband Bryan love to travel. Together, they’ve set an exciting goal: to visit every NFL stadium and fully immerse themselves in football culture.
At home, Heather is equally devoted to her beloved 11-year-old Cocker Spaniel, Taco. Taco has been a loyal companion through the chaos of family life and countless adventures. Whether he’s keeping her company during early morning coffee or sneaking an extra treat while she bakes, Taco is truly part of the family—and a constant reminder to enjoy the simple things in life.
And speaking of baking, word on the street is that Heather makes a mean cupcake.
Heather’s mix of professionalism, passion, and personal warmth makes her a true standout—both in the construction industry and in life.
